CBD In Skincare and Selfcare
In recent months, there’s been an uptick of skincare brands releasing products with CBD. There is some controversy regarding the popularity of CBD while many minorities languish in prison for non-violent drug offenses, and I think it is unfair that CBD and marijuana are treated differently depending on who is using them. However, this blog post will not attempt to cover those injustices; instead, I want to look at CBD in skincare and why it’s so beneficial.
The “star ingredient,” as it has been called by well and good, is known for its “stress reducing and pain-relieving benefits.” Its anti-inflammatory properties can help with puffiness, swelling, acne and anti-aging concerns.
I reach for CBD products to help reduce my persistent redness as well as using it to help with my anxiety. So far, I have only used the following two.
Herbivore’s Emerald Oil
The version of Emerald that I have been using has Hemp, not CBD, but it has similar redness-reducing properties. This oil gives a subtle glow and makes skin feel healthier and soothed. I think Herbivore has done a fantastic job of educating the public about CBD and has gone about marketing their products the right way. Once I have finished this bottle, I will pick up the CBD version in order to see how it compares.
Not Pot Gummies
This product is not exactly skincare, but the effects benefit my skin as well as my mind. Not Pot gifted me these gummies back in February, but I have every intention of repurchasing when my supply runs out. I take two of these strawberry-flavored gummies before bed to reduce my anxiety and sleeplessness, and I’ve never slept better. While it may be taboo to talk about anxiety so openly, and many have told me doing so is potentially suicidal in terms of looking for employment, but I believe that view is ridiculous. We all have our personal demons, and many of us struggle with some form of anxiety. Taking these gummies allows me to be at my best each and every day - something that’s necessary as a college student and competitive athlete.
Additionally, this company uses some of its profits each money to bail someone out of jail who is in on a non-violent drug-related offense. This is a cause I can proudly stand behind, and will enthusiastically use my own money to support :)
In the future, I hope to incorporate more products with CBD in my routines, as I find the ingredient effective and worthwhile. What is your favorite skincare product with CBD?>
